Killarney is located just south of Sudbury, Ontario on Georgian Bay's Northern peek approximately 5 hours north of Toronto. Killarney is one of the staging points for those visiting Manitoulin Island. Killarney is famous for being founded by the Group of Seven artist. The park is a maze of waterways and hidden lakes, the ideal spot for interior wilderness camping and portages. The majestic Granite Cliffs are one of the many beautiful scenes you will see in the park. On this trip we were privileged to see Loons, Great Blue Herons, Green Herons, Moose, Red Fox, Raccoon Cubs, Black Bears and Mergansers. The Black Bear was actually leading the park rangers on a wild goose chase all through the park for two days! This rogue bear caused a little bit of panic with some of the campers. In the end the bear was found and escorted out of the camp and issued a Do Not Return citation. Below are a few pictures of places we saw and friends we made at the park.
This young raccoon we found sleeping in the middle of the road in a pot hole. Steve and I made sure he found his way off the road and into the safety of the woods. After a short photo shoot we left the little guy to his business.
The rock formation you see below is currently being used in a new loon painting I am doing. The painting should be completed in about three weeks if all goes well.
The picture to the right is of my beautiful wife Suzanne and my little boy Briggs (thought I would show off the family). Briggs is a three year old Bull Terrier - Lab mix from the pound. Briggs was abandoned at three months old and suffered from severe skin disease. Now he is a wonderful, healthy, playful, big dufus that we love having. Just a reminder that rare jewels can be found at your local animal shelter.
